Transport groups seek for a maximize adjustment or fare hikes to enable them to cope with the skyrocketing prices of gasoline and other petroleum products.
Other groups including the religious sector have come up with the proposal to scrap the 12 percent Expanded Value Added Tax (EVAT) on oil. The President, however will have no stones unturned to find ways in helping alleviate and control the impact of price increases to our public.
Even some of the leaders of the House of Representatives showed support to the government's stand against the scrapping of the EVAT because it will lessen and slowdown the government's capacity to implement various programs and projects intended / designed to alleviate the economy and uplift the lives of the poor.

So what's with the added 12% EVAT? Why can't the government just use our taxes wisely and compromise what they have now to alleviate the economy? There is no way that NOT scraping the 12% evat will help solve this problem. How can they say that if they lessen the EVAT it would improve our economy and uplift the lives of the poor? It's the same thing everyday, people pay taxes and poor people become poorer each day. We can't really generalize that all politicians use our taxes for their own, but it's inevitable to know the fact that some of our taxes go to the government and used for corruption. Even there are evidences that PGMA is using some of it for the development of our country, I think she should be considerate to the poor especially now that prices are going up, especially oil. If a lot of filipinos are complaining about the high rates, then why can't PGMA not ease their lives by lessening our taxes?

yeah the evat actually pays for the importing casue so if we dont pay it or they take out the evat it will soon lead to loan which the goverment those not need more of
Evat is another way for the government to extract more money. Political officers must use taxes wisely then evat will not be necessary anymore. Poor people will be affected by this since they rely on the government and it will have a big impact if taxes increase.
Kaya hindi umuunlad ang Philippines. Coz they make the poor even much poorer.
Why is does the evat burden the poor? Honestly, i think it's th only way we can collect taxes from there since a lot of them are unemployed.
