Suspected cholera kills 20 in Philippines

A suspected cholera outbreak has killed 20 people and sickened 127 others in the remote villages of southern Philippine province Sultan Kudarat and is likely to affect more people living in the area with suspected water or food contamination, a senior Philippine Red Cross official said.

This shows how important medical services are, especially in remote areas. In the town of Palimbang, only 60 cases were reported on Wednesday but this jumped to more than 120 the next day. According to
Gwendolyn T. Pang, Assistant Secretary of Philippine National Red Cross, the Department of Health is still verifying whether this sickness is indeed Cholera.

One disturbing fact regarding this issue is that there is no hospital in the five villages affected by this sickness. The government should send more help to these people if they do not want this illness to spread or affect more people. According to the Red Cross, the most serious problem they are facing is reaching the affected areas. The areas are not easily accessible by vehicles. The government should seriously invest more infrastructure projects in these areas.

There should be more impact on the health of the country and how we can help save these people. There should be a hospital in every village just because it's a major necessity. We should start acting out and the Philippine Red Cross should help make this come true or whoever may be the one involved.

Now here's an eye opener for how really poor we are in terms of health. We can't even tell what kind of disease is fast spreading in sultan kudarat now what if it were something worst will we be able to handle it. Now what the government should do is increase the funds for the department of health so that in the worst case scenario we would be able to survive or at least minimize the casualties brought by diseases.

Woah so many people died. I hope they rest in peace. This is so sad because twenty people just died like that. I offer my condolences to their families.
