I myself find it quite alright that the price of oil is constantly increasing. It is simply because of the small, unnoticed reason that oil is an important necessity in today's everyday life.

Think about it. Vehicles such as cars, buses, and jeeps need oil. Even some factories need oil. But is oil renewable? Do we have an infinite supply of it?

No.

The United States realizes this simple fact. They continue to hoard oil in preparation for the near future. The US will be the only major supplier of oil, which enables them to monopolize the economy and demand ridiculous prices for even a mere liter of oil.

Shouldn't our country be doing the same?

I'm not really aware of the issues concerning oil but i'm aware of the fact that our country's economy is continually weakening because of the continuous increase of the price of oil.

We all know that oil is an important resource, its change will surely have an effect on the prices of our commodities. I believe our country is doing what it can do (im not saying its best) to lessen the effects brought by the changes of oil price. We may be incapable of hoarding oil because of the problems we face right now such as corruption in the government but i think our country is doing something to lessen its use. Right now I believe scientists were able to find or produce possible substitutes for oil. I think we also have battery operated jeepneys in Makati, but the problem is it's too expensive and it requires 8 hours of charging.. still insufficient..

Oil now is one of the major problem in the philippine but also in the world today.

Now that the oil is enormously increasing, it had affected the vehicle patrol operations of the police in Manila. They have to secure the oil dept.

Our government is now making solutions in solving this problems.

Now that I think about it, we should. The United States has begun to monopolize the oil distribution in the world by hoarding it.

However, we must also realize the fact that our country cannot compete in the same league as the United States or any other First World country in buying resources. The best we could hope for is the very short end of the stick.

Some people say that for now, we should maximize the growth of our economy for us to have a better shot at acquiring resources such as oil in the future.

The reason why the United States is having oil price hike is because they are having economic crisis. They also use the money for wars. They monopolize the oil for their own good without thinking about other countries like the Philippines. Since oil plays an important role in our lives to travel from one place to another, and since we do not control the oil, unfortunately we cannot do anything about it. Imagine the price of 50+ pesos per liter? Along with other things that have rapidly fluctuating costs because of all the problems our country has these days, we will suffer if the prices will continue to rise.

No doubt our country will suffer if the price of oil rises again.

I've heard that there is a program in the Philippines which can acquire oil locally. This is great news. It should decrease the price of oil in our country and stem the bleeding a bit.

I know that OIL is very important to us. The declining of oil resources causes increase oil rates and then our market products prices will increase too! Its a chain reaction! If we look at the bright side.. Some countries are starting to making a substitute for oil for us to be ready when the time comes!

i don't think so! the U.S. is not hoarding oil. They don't have the capacity to do that. they have a stockpile that can last them for about 3-4 months in case the world really runs out of oil. and the U.S. monopolizing oil is ridiculous, they even have to give more effort in negotiating with the arabs for cheaper oil, at this time, the price per gallon in the U.S. is $4.00, which is cheaper that ours, at our current exchange rate, do the math. $1.00=p45.00/ 1gal.=4 ltrs.

Oil truly is a necessity in our lives. It's something that's been always there but with this crisis going on lately and the increase of oil prices, this will get outraged and things will start to go out of hand. Many people will be desperate to get their hands on oil and as soon as we know it, oil will be just another memory in our lives. We need to take care of our earth's resources and use it wisely, we shouldn't abuse what we have. We shouldn't wait until it's gone. We should start acting now!

Oil is really a necessity in our lives but if we don't help try to save it, soon enough it will be gone. Without oil of course we can't do many things in our lives. Even the price has been inflating and I'm worried that many countries will have war over this single fact because we haven't found a cheap and safe alternative to oil. We should be using oil conservatively unlike the way a lot of us has been doing now. We should get more research and develop much more alternatives faster before it all runs out or is too late.

I agree that oil is a necessity in life for now. Until we find a constant replacement for it, we have to live on it as long as we can. I don't think the US is really hoarding the oil. I mean you got to remember the fact that 50% of US oil is from mainland US and specifically from the state of Texas. They can actually supply theirselves but since there has been a demand for oil, they need to import more and more oil to supply to everyone's needs.

i believe we need to find cheap and easy to produce energy to power our electricity and our transportation so as to reduce our dependency on the oil.And so relieving that burden will help our country to grow stronger.

oil, pumped from the ground, in middle eastern counties. WE the consumers, particulary the philippines, gets the oil from a number of different other distributors ahead of us, and each of them add their own profit before selling it on. since were probably one of the last to get it, all the addition profits are on top of the main price already, why cant we just get the oil directly from the area where they pump it?

Oil is a very valuable resource. It can make a poor country rich. Lacking it can also make a country poor. I don't believe though that the US can actually monopolize the oil resources of the world. Let's not forget that most of the oil is in the middle east and they can't even seem to control a little part of it called Iraq.

The price of the oil is also problem in Korea.

Amount of the oil is decreasing, but the consumption is increasing. people wants to have their own car, to have a cool air, and etc.

Thus, in Korea, we have some policies for those who have their cars, or air-conditioner.

They cannot drive their cars, by the number plate on their cars once a week.

And the temperature of the room is
limited.

Those could be the solution of the consumption of the oil.

even we consume the oil less than we did, we will be having a problem
if U.S. monopolize it.

that is not only problem for the Philippines but the world we are living.
