In the face of crisis, RP whistles in dark

Philippine Daily Inquirer 11/18/2008
We are all aware that there is a global economic pandemic and most of us are afraid that we would get affected. Well fear not since it is now very much clear that we will be affected, all the details are in ladies and gentlemen, we will be hit by this economic crisis. In comparison to most other countries our country will not be hit that hard since our country took important precautionary steps in trying to avoid a problem like this back in 1997 during the Asian financial crisis. However, with the coming of new U.S. President Barrack Obama, I have nothing against him by the way, plans to put a stop o all outsourcing in the U.S. Basically this means that countries that depend on remitances made by their overseas workers would suffer. India and our own country has already expressed great concerns that a lot of their workers could get laid off. If upcoming President of the United States Barack Obama's plan comes to fruition then it is most likely that what India and our country fears will come to pass. I think that this situation could not have come at a worse time. It is almost christmas and people who worked abroad and would not be able to earn their salary for December, and their christmas pay will have to work extra hard this upcoming months to keep their promises to their families. What scares me the most is that the OFW that might get laid off might not have a job when they return.
