In Cainta, Rizal, a lady was shot for refusing to give her laptop to the thief. When the lady tried to pull away her laptop from the thief, the thief took out his gun and shot her in the head and took her bags. Right now the victim is in a critical condition.
The moral lesson in this story is that any material is not worth getting ourselves killed. If someone tries to steal your things and threatening your life, give it to him because your life is more valuable than any object.

Yeah, your life is the only present you'll ever receive once in your life. Everyone please be careful and take care. Stay safe, and try not to be alone :)
I seriously agree that a life is far more valuable then any gadget. Laptops can easily be bought but a life can't. This story doesn't only teach us to value our life more than any material object, it also teaches us to be alert citizens.
I agree, price of material things cannot match our lives at all. But somtimes there are people, who cannot give up their material things, knowing that their life depends on it. Maybe they would have nothing else to do in life if they give it away? .. they get so dependent on it, that once its gone, they feel that their life is gone too as well,.
We shouldnt be thinking like that.
this is how low our country has become..shooting someone just for a laptop...we as a country is a disgrace..
There could be a reason that the girl didn't give away her laptop. There could be a reason that all business transactions are on her laptop, all documents, and money accounts are on her laptop. If the suspect stole the laptop then, the victim would have a hard time earning all her money again. Maybe her bank account is inside the laptop and the suspect can steal the money and what might happen to the victim? She might end up under the overpass and beg for money. Well, there could be a possibility that she wanted to risk her life rather than living under the bridge and have a hard time.
life is still far more valuable than any material thing in this world. even if the laptop has everything, files or important documents, its your life that is more valuable. you can get it back. it might be hard getting back what you lost but atleast you wouldn't suffer from a bullet in the head, right? she's in critical condition. hope she'd survive.
what a disaster...
we should be aware of these kind of things can happen anytime, anywhere to 'anyone' without notice

ouch. can't she just give it up? it just shows the inability to think rationally when in a pinch. well, we couldn't really blame her. if we were in her shoes, most of us would probably not give up the laptop also.
It's really sad to read about htis news. The country's crime rate is really increasing. These crimes are committed because of poverty in our country.
Surely the life is the mos valuable things among we have.
We cannat do anything if we die.
If someone is trying to steal our things, we have to give up.
We have to keep our life when they
threaten us.
We should always take care and careful.
During night time, we shouldn't be alone, especially for the women.
Just like everyone's reply to this post, life is irreplaceable while material belongings can be replaced easily. When facing this kind of situation, just give in to the demands of the criminal, at least you still have your life, your most precious belonging.
in this kind of situation you should just give that thing because nothing can replace your life.
it is just sad seeing this in society. this really degrades our country little by little. see how people now can do all kinds of acts just to get a material and stupid thing? its just so sadistic to go through these things just for a laptop. how sad our country can be..
if it's me, i surely would give up the laptop, life is priceless and there is no replacement.
Yikes. Every country has their "bad guys" and as much as we don't want them to have their way sometimes we just have to give in because it's the smarter thing to do. It could just save your life. This article also shows how much we give importance and may even be attached to our possessions. Hopefully this story opens our eyes to realizing what's really important in life.
A life of a person is more important than any material possessions or objects, no matter how expensive or essential they are to that person's life.
When one is faced with that kind of situation, it is better to surrender your laptop, or any other material possessions because these can always be acquired. On the other hand, life, no matter how much money you have, can't be replaced. Our lives are very much valuable than material objects. :)
I cant believe that anyone would willingly sacrifice their safety for their laptop. Maybe she didn't know that he had a gun?
Thanks to God Im still safe. have never met a thief.
It was so stupid of thief to kill the lady. He just had to hit her to get it. Maybe, he was just an amateur who was bit scared when the lady acted strongly
Madaling sabihin, mahirap gawin.
It's really easy to say "she should have given up the laptop" when you're commenting from the safety of your PC. Fact is, when faced with a similar high-pressure situation, most of us would panic. I probably would do the same. :)
Let's not forget that, whatever the reason, the article is also about a person who got shot by a criminal, and that this person is in critical condition at the moment. I hope that while learning the moral lesson, we can also take a moment to pray for her recovery.
Well, if she survived from this incident, then she can learn a thing or two about self-defense.
Well, life itself really is precious. But life would be priceless if we learn from those mistakes. If ever we have a chance to live again, then we would have to find ways to prevent ourselves from going to the same bad experience twice.
(One question stayed in my mind: Why didn't the lady use her laptop as a strong shield?)
Oh, and if you would be in a situation like this, interrogation would be much more effective. Try talking to some thief and see the results.
This is such a sad event. I can't believe that this is what some people have become, killing innocent people just for money and for survival. I cannot judge the girl on why she refused to give her laptop, she had her reasons. I just think we should take care of our belongings more and not bring our valuables to places where it is not so safe. :)
This goes to show how Filipinos are not united. Just for a laptop, the man would kill someone. How morally wrong.
The problem for some filipinos is that, they are not persistent enough to find their jobs and they resort to doing crimes.
How sad, it seems that life now is more cheaper that material objects. The lady traded her life for her laptop, what was she thinking? Maybe because she wasn't able to think clearly and let her defensive instinct take over her. Also, how merciless of the thief, killing a person for a material object, who is he to take the life of others. Even if he really needs the money, he could have found a better way to get it, or at least let the lady live. Such a desperate person.
