Solar Powered Jacket Recharges Your Gadgets

SOURCE:
http://inventorspot.com/articles/solar_powered_jacket_recharges_your_gadgets_12715

how cool can this be, A solar powered jacket which can charge your cellphone or ipod!
trouble starts when our devices need to be charged, when there isnt any power source!
but no need to worry because now there is this awesome new technology.
This new jacket from the house of Ermenegildo Zegna Holditalia SpA (Zegna) promises a sure solution to all recharge solutions.
having solar panels in its collar, this jacket is capable of converting 1watt of sunlight. If you are thinking about cumbersome cables running through the jacket, fret not as all the electrical juice is conducted through special textile cables that flex and move with your body.
One can plug the cellphone or ipod directly into the jacket, or, one can use the onboard battery which takes about 8 hours to charge, this 100g built in battery can also store extra power for later use. there are USB ports which offer the corresponding volts needed to charge your device.

Now this is technology!

this gadget is cool but i think of it a little bit illogical because would you stay under the sun so that you could charge our ipod? maybe a more compact soulution would be great for charging your gadgets under the sun without involving you being under the sun as well

Wow, I can't believe that science-fiction is turning into reality. In the past years, people said that it can't be done and can only be done in the movies but now its a reality! I'm goin to buy this when its out on the market! =)

Wow! Kung gaano kataas ang inflation rate, ganoon din yata kabilis umuunlad ang teknolohiya! May side effects ba itong jaket?

well magz, its not really about having to stay under the sun, the way i look at it, Nowadays, there is a really huge number of people commuting, hanging out, walking, or just bumming around outside. so basically, while their at it, they can have their devices charged, besides, people are usually out and under the sun for quite long times, they dont have to stay so long just for the sake of charging.

Pretty awesome, I think this jacket will be produced in the market and be a popular item, it could be a new innovation and can produce more ideas for the Filipinos.

well, yes i would agree that with the type of climate we have in the philippines, it is sort of too hot to wear a jacket, but you see, whats the whole point of making a jacket, solar powered, when it wont be comfortable ? .. so the way I would look at it , is probably they made the jacket, comfortable, not thick enough to make you feel too warm inside. Its probably a thin type of jacket, fashionable too, so it can be worn anytime, everytime.

Now that's what we call innovation. Let's just hope that it is also fashionable. I mean, imagine solar cells on your collar. Man, thats weird. What are we? Robots. Haha but, overall I would like to comment on the technology of it but it can be expected that the charging time to the gadgets will take more time than putting a charger on the outlet. Also, I would like to comment that isn't it heavy to carry all those things around? Solar cells, the battery of the solar cells, the charger of cellular phones and ipods? Isn't it not practical? It's heavy and what if it rained? Then the jackets will then be destroyed. This innovation is good but, people should also remember the practicality of their innovations. Like the one in Japan, people invented cellular phones that have everything from gps to television. Many people are compaining because the cellular phones are very complexed and it always hangs. THe company should also think the practicality of these technologies and not hurry things. :D

wow. cool. this gadget will really help if you badly need to text somebody. sample: "wala na akong batt! pano ko matetext crush kooo?" HAHAHAHA!! but this gadget is really awesome. solar powered. but why in a jacket? its not comfortable to wear a jacket, especially here in the Philippines, its just too hot. but still, a great idea. but not just a good item to put in the idea. solar powered battery charger siguro? hahaha. ayos din yun.

regarding VCHU's comment, about the jacket having solar panels and everything, its all in the collar. they wont bother at all. And regarding about the weight?. the built in battery is only 100grams. it wont bother you at all. It is definitely fashionable, it just fits in to what people like wearing nowadays. And yes I agree that here in the philippines it is pretty hot to wear a jacket outside, and if it rains hard, I doubt anything would be damaged, because the solar pannels, the chargers, are well hidden inside, the climate wont put any effect on it. And yes the charging will take time, ofcourse it will take some time, but atleast your not having electricity bills,.

wow. haha. although i think that it's a REALLY cool gadget, wouldn't it just risk our lives as we walk on the streets or commute? haha. it becomes a danger more than a convenience.

I think it's a bit inconvenient to wear a jacket here in the Philippines. We usually wear jackets when it is rainy so the isn't out. Wouldn't that be a problem?

kumar said...

yes i can guess you can say this is kind of impractical, but in other countries, im sure it will do good..
We wouldnt wear these kind of jackets here, knowing the crime rate, and knowing how hot it is here

amazing!
The technology is making rapid progress.

Because of the development of the technology, we are living more comfortable life compare to the past.

Occasionally, I forgot to charge my cellphone so I cannot use the cellphone outside.
But if it is true, I do not need to worry about charging my cellphone!

But do I have to stand under the sun to charge my phone?
It will be hard.

i would rather not have this into society since it is kinda useless. we have to focus more on reality here since more than half of the population in the country are under poverty. we should not be distracted with the small things that could be cool, but not really useful to society.

Wow. More and more gadgets are now being invented! It is amazing how technology rapidly progresses. From this, we can see that people nowadays are innovative and creative. They find ways to make life easier. I wonder what's next after solar powered jackets. :)
