We must stop Filipino worker migration!

Thais, Malaysians and Taiwanese didn't leave their country and seek for better opportunity in other countries during the economic crisis, they stayed and help built the nation, why can't Filipinos have the same thought with them? The Filipinos don't love their country as the Thais, Malaysians and Taiwanese? I think the main reason is the mentality of the Filipinos, Filipinos are family first, for them, the family is more important than the country. They have to find ways to feed the family, So they leave the country for their family. Other reason maybe the corrupt gov't here in the Philippines, the Filipinos think that there's no hope here in Philippines, no matter what they do, how they sacrifice for the nation, the situation in the Philippines is expected to be worse in the future, so they leave the country...

im just puzzled that's all.

Filipinos today are not as nationalistic as they were before (during Rizal and Aguinaldo's time).. So we can't really expect them to stay here in the Philippines and face the problems slash crisis our country encounters today.. As you mentioned, one factor why OFWs leave the country is because of the mentality of us, the Filipinos. Family-first tayo, our family’s well-being really matters a lot, that’s why if our earnings our insufficient, we leave the country and work abroad. And as you said, another is the experience we have with our government. But in my opinion, IT’S NOT THAT WE DON’T LOVE OUR COUNTRY, it’s just that we have to find ways to make our lives more comfortable, we can’t really blame the Filipinos for leaving the country because nowadays, there are no more Andres Bonifacios, Jose Rizals, and Emilio Aguinaldos who are willing to risk their lives for the country. We have to understand that the Filipinos are doing this for the sake of surviving.

I don't blame some filipinos for choosing to work abroad than here. The excessive corruption in this country has made everyone hopeless including me. We've recently reached the topmost level in East Asia as the most corrupt. And with this, it is so hard to be hopeful that our country would progress.

I think the reason here is the people lost their trust to the government. Or may be because of job shortage, they can't find any job to work so they have to leave the country to find more work, to feed their family.

In our country, it's hard to be successful if you don't have a diploma. Even fresh graduates have a hard time finding employment. That is why I don't blame these Filipinos who leave the country and seek a better life abroad. At least these OFW's help the Philippines by sending $$Dollar$$ remittances.

I think the reason why Filipinos work overseas because they lack support from the government and it is as if they will not have a bright future in just staying here in the Philippines. Unlike in other countries though they are faced with crises, at least their government is working with the people to create more job opportunities, higher salaries and other related plans.while in here, leaders of this country are not even concerned for the sake of the citizens, and concerned only with what they can get from doing such programs.

This shows our brain drain in the Philippines. Professionals are going abroad because of the income there. This is because our country is so corrupt; that is why they felt that there is no chance at all in having a better life in the Philippines.

Leaving the country does not mean that they do not love their country. It's just that the Filipinos need to find ways to earn for a living. One way or another, they need to support their families.

Evidently, there are better opportunities abroad with higher salaries.

Any person who has a family to feed would definitely find ways and means to make sure the family's needs are taken cared of, whether staying here or going abroad. In fact, if you ask these Filipinos who go abroad the question, "where do you intend to retire?", majority, if not all, would say, "There is no place like home like the Philippines." :)

Yeah, there are many Filipino empolyees in korea also. But the reason is not caused of their carelessness. It is only the reason to earn much money as the other country people who go abroad to earn a lot of money.

how can you stop a desperate person? if we make them stay here in the phillipines how can they explain to their family why there is no food on the table. why their son cannot go to school. why they have to constantly move. it's easy reading this post when we have a car to drive. a house to live in, eat 5 times a day to our heart's content right?

The main reason why Filipino migration is going on is that a lot of the citizens find greater opportunities in other countries, compared to their options here in the Philippines. They cannot be fully blamed on this. Having a family or supporting people financially is their obligation. it's their alternative. If the Philippines had good offers, they won't have to go elsewhere. Plus. it'll help them bring back what good our country gave to us. Whatever you may say, Filipinos would still love to help his own country more than other countries.

I agree that the filipinos who leave our country are not nationalistic at all. They do not love our country! If they did, then they would have stayed. Especially the doctors who opt to become a nurse in another country should have just stayed and helped the other sick Filipinos.

In the other hand, we cannot also blame these Filipinos because they also need money to be able to have a comfortable life!

yeah filipinos should stay here. they shouldnt leave and migrate to other countries. they should realize that this is the time wherein the Philippines needs their help the most.

dave said...

i agree, the filipino migrators should realize that the country needs them.

zparda said...

this migration must be reduce only not halted though because it is their right to leave the country in search of a better life and opportunity but they should have been more patriotic and stayed in country to help out.

i think so..
if the workers go to abroad, the Philippine cannot develop. the workers are making the company and the companies are making the economy of the country.
if the economy of the Philippines is not develop, the country could not be developed.

the government should make more policies for their workers, and for the country.

the people will make better place!
