Ces Drilon's consequence

source: http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/inquirerheadlines/nation/view/20080706-146708/Ces-Drilon-slapped-3-month-suspension

ABS-CBN suspended Ces Drilon for 3 months from being a newscaster in the late-night show "Bandila" and for being a head correspondent. They said that it was her fault that they were kidnapped. She did not follow instructions and insisted on going to Indanan, Sulu. She apologized to her supervisors for endagering the lives of her co-workers.

Ces viloated ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs Standard and Ethics Manual which stated, "While all reporting of conflict and other hazardous environments involves an element of risk, you must avoid obvious danger and not take unreasonable risks… You may move into a dangerous environment only with the authorization of your supervisor.”

Although, Mari Ressa, ABS-CBN's Current Affairs head said that Ces should be accountable for all her actions, she commended her for the bravery that she exhibited.

too bad nasuspend sya. pr ok lang yun. may magagawa naman siyang productive sa suspension nya. i mean, kaya nga sya naging reporter kasi magaling siya hndi ba? kaya madidiskartehan nya ung oras nya. :)

I think it is part of her job as a journalist to take risks, it is just that unexpected things do really happen. But next time, she should be really careful and not just to trust anybody.

I admire her braveness and courage. But she should be aware of the consequences she will be faced and the harm she may bring to the people around her.

Mabuti nang nasuspend siya, para makapahinga naman.

Ces Drilon appeared to be desperate.. What happened to her was really unfortunate, after being kidnapped and nearly killed by the terrorists, she is now suspended! diba malas tlga!?!

But despite this fact, I admire her bravery and loyalty to her work as a journalist. She took the risk just to be able to deliver news to the Filipinos (and of course the ratings! it's always there..!! haha!!) But she should be more careful next time because it's not only her life she's putting into danger but also the lives of her crew or staff (buti sana kung buhay niya lang e).. Other journalists and newscasters should learn from what happened to Ces Drilon, we don't want to hear another news like this!

What she did was risking everything she and her co-workers had. Going into a death place to gather information for her story really showed great determination towards her work, which I do admire. However, it also reflected selfishness on her part as she did not heed the advice of her superiors and at the same time, think of the welfare of the people who accompanied her. Furthermore, she also did not consider what her and her cameramen’s families would go through. She knew what she was going into and yet still pursued her story.

She should have been more prudent and more considerate in her actions since the place she was going to was a no-man's land. Her selfishness and ambition almost cost them their lives.

Yes, taking risks are part of being a journalist or a reporter but one should also know his or her limitations. What is the use of an exclusive story if the journalist involved will not be able to deliver it herself to the public? For me, a journalist’s life is still more important than a story. :)

Wow, Ces Drilon was such a brave person in taking risks. As a reporter, being that desperate is okay, however she should know the limitations. Think 10 times before you do something especially the consequences. Putting people's lives into danger is a no-no,you should think of others being involved of what might happen to them. She's now suspended because of what she has done.

tama lang yun! being brave has its limitations and being stupid and reckless is going beyond being brave.

ces drilon is very brave. but for every action there is a consequence so in her case she violated something and even endangered her co-workers.
