Tax exemption for minimun wage earners.....

source:http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/breakingnews/nation/view/20080708-147186/Escudero-Tax-exemption-for-minimum-wage-earners-in-effect

Due to the high inflation rate last June which rate 11.4 percent increase, Senator Chiz Escudero urged the government to ensure the law that exempts minimum wage earners in paying their income taxes. The law took effect on Tuesday. The recent wage hike was cancelled out by the high inflation rate as if it did not happen. The tax exemption law grants tax breaks of from P3, 650 to P25, 800 a year, giving the fixed income earners an additional 14 billion pesos of spending power. However, Senator Chiz Escudero warns that the inflation will continue and the price of commodity goods like food, water, electricity and oil will yet to peak. The 1.4 million state workers will get their 10 percent salary increase this month however some of the private sectors excluding the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao got theirs last month. However, Senator Chiz Escudero has pointed out the salary increase will not materialize because the inflation has a higher rate.

I am glad to hear that Senator Chiz Escudero has done something to the minimum wage earners, with this law submitted by him, the minimum wage earners will surely have more money to designate to the family needs of these people. I hope that the inflation rate of these prices will stop or else the tax exemption for these minimum wage earners will still be no used. These minimum wage earners should have planning in proper usage of their money; they should learn how to reduce their bills. In the end, they will also benefit for these.

This is a good news to the poor urban sector, now they can earn more for their daily needs. But this is not a good idea, because what will happen to the people is they'll be more dependent to the tax exemption.
The government should think more something more sustainable to the people.

I think this tax exemption will just be a temporary solution to the current financial problems. If the inflation rate doesn't come down, these minimum wage earners will likely forget that they are exempted from tax, and continue to complain.

it is good that minimum wage earners are to be exempted from paying their income taxes.
inflation in our country has gone double digit and this is really bad.. and its so sad that all we can do is watch it increase ...

Once again a job well done by Senate member Escudero, removing taxes from minimum wage earners is great because they already take home so little then it still gets deducted. But this could prove a problem in the future due to the immense amount of money the government will lose through this process but what the heck at least it wont go in the pockets of corrupt officials

It is good that somthing good happened for the benefits of the employees. They would be exempted from the tax therefore they would have more income to take home. This would be a big help for them as they sustain their needs most especially because everything has a high price already.

Basta ang pera na natipid sa pagiging tax-exempt ay hindi mapupunta sa droga, alak, at pagsusugal, malaking tulong ito para sa mga mamamayan.

This idea of Senator Chiz Escudero is a good one since he came up with alternatives and help support to the less previlaged or the so-called minimum wage earners. Being contributors to tax paying, this proposal will help them a lot.

The only con on this is to the rest of the citizens that spend a lot on tax (not excepted). in a way, it'll be unfair.

This will be good for the less fortunate Filipino families BUT I don't think they should do this because they will depend on being exempted from the tax and not work harder. Also, the government need all the money they can get since our country is so ugly. They really need the money to improve our crappy country.

It is amazing that it's just now that they announced the tax exemption. It's should have been done long long ago.

This good news for the minimum wage earners, bad news for the above minimum wager earners. It would be unfair for the others because everyone should pay tax as long as you earn money. My verdict is that everyone should be fair, everyone should pay taxes if you have a job and you earn money.
