PHILIPPINE NEWS SURVEY – According to an online survey called “Attractions that rock Asia” that was conducted by international magazine TravelWeekly, Boracay in Western Visayas is listed as the best leisure destination in Asia. Boracay beats other favorites such as Bali in Indonesia and Sanya in China.
Boracay is the only Philippine destination nominated in the survey which gives us more reason to protect the beautiful island. The Tourism Department is implementing a plan to preserve the charm of the island, to decongest the crowded beach, and improve the water services on the island.
Since June, Mandarin Airlines opened direct flights from Taipei to Kalibo, one of the two gateways to Boracay. More tourists are expected to visit the island because of the greater availability of flights from other Asian Countries.
Most of us have been to Boracay. We have all seen its beauty which attracts a thousand tourists. Why waste it by polluting the island? Boracay is one of the well-known islands in the Philippines and one of the most beautiful. We all love its soft white sand and clear blue water. How can we enjoy that if it will be filled with trash? Not only does Boracay attract tourists but it also helps the Philippines. It gives job opportunities to Filipino’s and boosts up our economy. Also, keeping Boracay clean will give a good name to us Filipino’s. So we must all help in the preservation of Boracay. Now should we waste Boracay or protect it?

sadly, boracay is starting to be 'wasted', not unless our goverment will execute the proper and necessary precautions of preserving and also maintaining it.

This is great to hear! I have friends that visited the island 3 months ago and said that the place was very crowded and many have commented about the cleanliness of the place. Compared to how it was years back, now the sea has trash, and the island isn't maintained well even though it is rising. We should preserve our islands just like Boracay, which is now known worldwide. This can cause progress to our country int he long run. A presentable country atrracts tourists. I believe that the Philippines has more to show than Boracay.
I have to agree with la salle 38. I went to boracay last summer break and theres a lot of fungi aong the shore. It's not there before but because of the waste people throw n boracay the fungi will no longer disappear. All the attractions are there and there are a lot of activities to do in boracay but sadly I believe that boracay will sooner or later be like manila bay. :(
Because of the number of people visiting Boracay in a year, it is no surprise that the place is already polluted with trash all around. With Boracay like this, less tourist will now visit Boracay with its poor state. We should help improve its current state and also help prevent it from degrading. As the title says, even with Boracay in its not so good state, it tops Asia tourism survey, so if it is taken cared of, it might top the world tourism survey someday.
I think Boracay should limit its tourist at a time because it is hard to maintain its cleanliness when it is already overcrowded. I also think that they should limit building establishments in the area because it will be too commercialized, they should instead hire personnel who will take care of the place. They need to impose rules to maintain clean and order and punish the violators.
DOT should be vigorous in maintaining the island. it is one of the places in which the philippines should be proud of.
I just visited Boracay last April 2008 and it was very croweded and DIRTY. It was nothing like the Boracay my family and I went to 7 years ago. The government in Aklan should do something about the island. They should clean it and put rules so that the island can be preserved.
Even if Boracay is not that good anymore it still topped the Asia tourism survey. Therefore, if the government will be able to improve the island more tourists will come to our country and in the long run this can greatly affect our economy.
Why blame the government..again? It's not their fault that people are too lazy to look for trash bins so they just throw their trash anywhere. People should be mature and responsible for their acts and not put the blame to the government because it's our own fault.
tama, tourist should be responsible for their own trash, dapat CLAYGO, and they visited Boracay, they should take care of it for future tourists
although Boracay may be "A HIT" in the tourism side, its slowly degrading because of our insensivity. we must watch our for our beloved boracay or else it won't be a tourist hot spot anymore in the near future.

I think that the government is doing its best in preserving these beautiful sites and places our country has to offer. The Department of Tourism is making sure that more and more people - most especially foreigners are drwan to visit Boracay and other different places in the Philippines. I think that we are the problem when it comes to garbage and trash inconveniences. We cannot blame the government always because we also have our own responibility as citizens of this country.
Wow, good news. I remember when we went to boracay years ago, it was surely beautiful. I hope that that boracay that i experienced can be maintained. It is not the government's fault that boracay has depreciated. But i think that the government should give a hand and promote cleanliness in boracay because it is one of our most profitable tourist spots in the Philippines
I'm surprised that Boracay is recognized by other countries as well. I hope that the DOT will continue its job of maintaining Boracay as the top.
its good to hear that boracay is the top...but we should still not abuse boracay, cause it might depreciate fast cause of over usage of boracay..
Boracay is a great place. it's really beautiful there, it should be preserve for the future to see. let's not make it trashy there. keep it clean. dali! maglinis na tayo! wag na magkalat sa Bora! para mas lalo pa tayong maging proud sa beauty ng Philippines!
i really want to visit there.
i have never been there yet.
my friend who visited there said it is really nice.
the beaches and the white sand...
because of the reason the people visit there and it is the reason why the Boracay is starting to be dirty.
i hope it would be able to clean up and keep clean all the time.
so that they keep the top of the survey.
i ve been to boracay this summer it was pretty clean except the fact that the shor was full of algae. and this algae is teh one that makes boracay sand white. so we cant do much about it
