The Department of Education recently obtained computer laboratory packages that would benefit several public schools involving 100 elementary and 100 high schools all over our country. They were able to obtain these computer laboratory packages through the savings of the department’s cost- effective technologies that were not utilized by the computer programs prior to this project. Along with the computer packages are wireless connections that would be linked to each workstation for the reason that it would reduce the worth of having a manually connected network. In an interview, the DepEd secretary Jesli Lapus said "DepEd's computerization program lays the foundation for our learners to be connected to the rest of the world, and endow them with skills required from a 21st century learner." With this, it just shows that the education system in public schools is able to cope up with the latest technological advances that are vastly developing. Moreover, the computer laboratory packages include one personal computer as a server, ten units of personal computer as workstations for the students, eleven units of power supply, one wireless broadband router, and one colored printer.
Integrating this kind of technological advancement to our public schools is really a substantial step in having a new learning environment for the student, thus, making them more aware and knowledgeable of the importance of technology nowadays. This project also shows that the Department of Education gives priority in giving a quality education to our brothers and sisters who are in public schools, consequently, also being able to allot a budget for it. As an addition, insurance to the computers were given by GSIS against fire, theft, and other sudden events that may occur. Indeed, "this program is crucial to the Secretary's vision of providing education to all Filipinos anytime, anywhere. Under his watch, and through this program, all public high school students will learn the relevant skills that will put them at par with our ASEAN countries.”, as the Technical Service Director Mari Paul Soriano believed.

It is always good to hear whenever the government gives priority to health and education. These two things are the backbone of our country in my opinion. Keeping up with the rest of the world is not an easy task but we have to start somewhere. Hopefully this is just the start of a continuing process of improvement in educating the Filipino youth. As the saying of Jose Rizal goes.. "Ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng Bayan."
It is an outstanding project for the government because they still prioritize education. It is good to hear that the government use the money for projects to help more students.
Any progress on the public schools of the Philippines must be greatly appreciated. Why? because many Filipino youth today are enrolled in public schools and it is their only source of academic knowledge. So thus improving this area will greatly benefit a large number of youth in our country. The news tells us that the development is in the technological sense. That means that the students may now be more exposed with computers and may eliminate the idea that computers are only used for gaming. Right now the government gives attention to education which is good.
I think the high-tech education is extremly helpful tool to student. Students are able to conduct extensive research on a fraction of the amount of time it used to take. They are also able to take online courses in their homes, saving both time and money. the high-tech is revolutionizing way students learn, and enter the 21st century in a new direction.
it's good to here a positive action from our government even though most of them are corrupt officials. they should continue doing this because the Philippines illiteracy rate are increasing and if it continuously increase there would be more problem like unemployment, uneducated, and uncivilized pinoys.
I think that this should been done years ago. But at least it is now. Education is a really big part of anyone's life and we Filipinos whould really develop our education. There are a lot of people specially children who are talented and smart but nothing happens to them because of the lack of education. I hope that the schools that were given equipments for studying should use it properly for the students to learn faster and more efficient. This opportunity should be used to keep up with vast developing countries around the world. We should really go further for the children's future and also the country's future as well.
Having computer laboratories would definitely benefit students of public schools because they would be able to keep up with the advancements of information technology. It is nice to hear that funds of the department of education are being used for important equipments for public schools. I also think that it is a good idea to have only one computer with network connection as a server and one router to provide wireless connection for other computers because it is very cost efficient.
