It is during the Christmas season wherein the prices of different goods and commodities are expected to increase. President Arroyo would be doing rounds for inspection if the increase in these prices would be too high. There were reports given to the Department of trade that the increase of prices on ham, noodles, fruits and cocktail went up to more than 10 percent.
Christmas is indeed one of the celebrations we Filipinos prepare for. I believe that it is just proper for the government to take action and inspect the prices of goods in the market, so that the citizens of this country would truly have a wonderful Christmas; especially during these times wherein money is hard to earn.
I hope the government would succeed in its vision to watch and control the prices of goods and commodities in the market, especially during this season knowing many consumers might fall victim to overpricing.

it is good that the President made a price ceiling for products during this coming Christmas season to protect buyers from overpricing. But I don't think a 10 percent price increase is too high. It is even smaller than service charges and value added tax in some restaurants. We should also try to understand that these companies are just trying to have a little more profit since the owners don't get thirteenth month pay like most people. The buyers still have other options because I'm sure the companies that increased their prices have competitors in the market.
it is so ironic kasi dapat every Christman season magbaba ng price para sa mga goods kasi competition yun pero ang nangyayari is mas tumataas pa yung mga bilihin. i don't think icocontrol ng government yung mga prices kasi sila din nakikinabang dun.
Its the job of the Dept of trade and industry to check whether the prices of goods in market are reasonable. If they don't do it then shame on them. It is common during this time that traders/shops would increase prices due to the high demand on these "christmas" goods. This is the time when businesses boom and so the prices go up. The decision is up to the consumers if they will tolerate such actions. We the consumers can always look for better and less expensive options.
Sellers and/or producers tend to increase prices especially if the good is in demand for a specific period of time. and i do hope that the government would find time to inspect the prices of the basic commodities so that everyone, including the less fortunate would be able to celebrate the season joyfully. how can the poor ones enjoy a good noche buena n medya noche if they can't buy or cook a simple meal due to increased prices?.. i believe that the christmas season is the best time to decrease prices, like an early christmas gift. yuletide season is the period of sharing and giving right? =)
i believe that there are reasons why the goods and commodities increase prices every season especially during Christmas season. this is beneficial for the seller but not for the buyer. for the seller, they would earn a lot because of the profit they would gain from it, but sometimes the high price range really depends on the quality of the product. maybe the product did increase its price since the quality did change or there are packages included. for the buyer, it would help them to decide or make good choices since they would be going to different stores to check out prices. this would tell if they are really good consumers... the gov't should really inspect if the price is really suitable for the product.. it would be unfair if some would buy not knowing that the product is fake..
I think that price increase during the Christmas season is sensible, provided that it would not be excessively high and it also is reasonable for the quality of the product. Let’s admit it, if we were put in the shoes of those sellers, we would also agree in raising the prices of our goods, it is just a matter of price leveling and practice of fairness with both the consumers and sellers. This would also be a challenge to buyers to think of other alternatives especially if they oppose in the price increase of products. However, we should not be deceived by those cheap or less expensive products, sometimes, in return, it would cost us too high if something unexpected happens with the product we bought. Thus, we should constantly consider the quality of the products that we purchase.
It is during Christmas time wherein businessman takes advantage by overpricing their products. Thinking that because its Christmas, and its a season of gift giving, people couldn't avoid spending for gifts, new clothes and stuffs.
I guess it all depends on the buyers, we buyers should be smart enough to assess if the product being sold is worth its price. Lets not look at the brands but lets give more importance to the quality of the product. Brands are just brands. Its expensive not because of the quality of the product but because of the "Brand" itself.
Its a good thing that DTI together with President Arroyo is doing rounds to ensure that businessmen would overprice. After all, its really their job to protect the people from abusive businessmen.
It is good to hear that the president would be doing rounds for inspection so that the price of the goods are not going to increase too high. Nowadays it is too hard to live due to the inflation. The prices of commodities were sharply rose since the beginning of the year. I think it would be very helpful for the populace if the government hold back the increase of the prices. Hope the government be a doer, not a talker.
Yes, the government should take action to inspect and monitor the prices of commodisties consumers buy. For the past months, the prices of canned goods and such went high constantly. What i mean by constantly is if the price of canned goods increses the prices of noodles and biscuits also increases. They should stop increasing the prices.
it is true that the prices of every good or service that you can think of has gone up. And while most malls have resorted to mall-wide sales to get their consumers back, there are other alternatives to having a nice present-filled holiday season. for example, the 168 mall in divisoria is great for items that are priced much lower than malls, dapitan is known for its christmas decors, plates, and other unique trinkets, and around the metro, bazaars are the new trend. although you may have to sweat it out to find nice gifts for your loved ones, its always nice to have an adventure while shopping in a place other than the mall.
It is good to hear that the government will prevent the increase of prices of commodities since we are having economic crisis.
Christmas is the biggest event in the Philippines and people would want to buy some gift or food. Due to many buyers, price will increase but sellers should not take advantage from us. So it is fine to increase the price a little bit.
It is expected that the prices of commodities will increased due to the increase of demand. It is also nice that the government is doing something to prevent those that will take advantage of the season. As much as possible we want to save every centavo without sacrificing our gift giving tradition. Thanks to our government we all know we need this especially now that we are undergoing crisis.
i realized that the christmas is one of the best peak season for the business. but if the price went up, it only beeficial for seller and product corporation because they can earn more profit. but consumer is in diffirent situation. Money comes from consumer wallet. it suffer a great loss to consumer. the Christmas must happy for all people, but if all people are involving stress because of money matter, we should think again what christmas is.
For the consumers, para makaiwas tayo sa mga matataas na bilihin, ay dapat bumili tayo kaagad ng ating mga pang regalo at pang noche buena 2-4 months before the Christmas season gets started. Dun lang tayo makakaluwag.
