MANILA, Philippines -- (UPDATE 2) Beating what they call sham impeachment complaints, anti-Arroyo critics have filed another, the fourth one seeking the ouster of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

The case was filed at 7:40 a.m. Monday before director Ricardo Roque, the officer-in-charge at the Secretary General's office at the House of Representatives, although the complainants were at the House as early as 6 a.m.

Present were Joey de Venecia III, son of former Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr., Iloilo vice governor Rolex Suplico, and groups such as the Kilusang Mayo Uno and Black and White Movement.

The complainants raised the national broadband network agreement with China, the fertilizer scam, and human rights violations as among the impeachable offenses committed by Arroyo.

Bayan Muna partylist Representatives Satur Ocampo and Teodoro CasiƱo and Gabriela Representative Liza Maza endorsed the complaint.

Roque said that Monday’s impeachment case was the first for this year since last year’s complaint by lawyer Roel Pulido lapsed last October 11.

In my opinion, even if President Arroyo would be impeached and proven guilty, changing the president would do us no good. Let's face it, even if GMA was involved in the ZTE Deal because of her husband, and having the scandalous hello Garci tape, President Arroyo is still the most capable person to run our country.

Right now, global economic crisis is hitting our country every minute. I think if GMA was not our president we wouldn't have survived up to this point in time. She's an economist who have studied abroad, she controls the military, and are friends with other leaders from other nations. She has the capacity and brains to make our country more valuable from having 50+ Pesos is to 1 US Dollar, to 40+ Pesos is to 1 US Dollar. She helped us also in our rice crisis.

I'm not saying I'm pro GMA or what, but what I'm saying is that ousting her from position is useless. I mean, even if she get ousted, it is too late because 2010 election is just near. We are also aren't sure if Noli De Castro is capable to do the job of GMA. I guess what we should do right now is to not focus on impeaching the president but rather to focus on finding solutions to the economic crisis that we are experiencing.

One of the many things I can state with regards to ousting the President is the fact that we are ousting a President yet again. It seems ridiculous if not outrageously funny that we result to impeachment every time we have a problem with our President. It was done with Marcos although not in the same manner, and with Estrada. The last time I checked the Philippine is a democracy meaning it is it's citizens who voted for its President. It is a decision they made which they should live by. The easy way out isn't through the impeachment of the President. It might become a habit of the citizens to elect a President and impeach him or her after a few months if they do not see the President as a good candidate. Electing a good President is not solved through test trials. Can we for once see that we also can do something to help this nation besides commenting on the acts of the President? Following traffic rules and regulations is a first step. Learning how to follow simple rules goes far with following other rules and laws.

Ousting GMA is not the solution to the problem we're facing. If GMA steps down in her position, then who would replace her? I am not pro-GMA but seeing the possible substitutes of GMA, I also think that they are no better than GMA. The president has the qualities and capabilities on running our country. We need to face it, government officials are generally corrupt, whoever replaces her will also be corrupt. This view may be subjective, but I think that at least she somehow has the ability to run the government, although she's corrupt.

I am also not pro GMA but I must admit that she has the abilities and qualities of a leader, of course she also has flaws, nobody's perfect. but ousting our president in this time of economic crisis would only make the situation worse. Why are the Filipino people so fund of impeaching the president? it's becoming a habit already and it's not a good impression for our country. it's the voters responsibility to choose and vote wisely. elections is fast approaching, ousting the president now is indeed too late. let's just focus on how to contribute something good to our society.

I can't help but to entertain this weird idea at the back of my mind saying that, come 2010 it would not be an easy wave-goodbye-thank you-it was nice serving the Filipino people-then step down and out of the malacanange end-of-the-term scenario for PGMA. I can't help but imagine that she could transform into the evil we imagine her to be today and would suddenly turn red and enraged and would be the Hitler II the world has yet to see.

I know, I know, might be too radical but that's just what I think I can foresee, for with such a very cunning president like her, she's not that easy to predict.

It is remarkable however that in her 8 years in the business (of you-know-what-I-mean) she has been through many loopholes and has been able to get pass them with grace and poise.

So what I think about ousting GMA? I bet yah, these impeachment papers they have against her? In two weeks time, the Supreme Court assistants would be done shredding all traces of them and they would be dumped into the junk up for recycling.

I agree with Karisse, Ousting PGMA would do no good, we are in the midst of a global financial crisis, almost every country is affected by fall of U.S and European economies, we can not afford to loose our president at this point. And no matter how bad GMA sounds, with all the corruptions, cheatings and decisions she made, GMA still did good things to our country, she has managed to increase the peso value for the past year.

We need GMA now more than ever, she is capable of bringing our country through this crisis. And besides who are we going to replace her with? Noli De Castro? that would be a fatal decision. For me V.P De Castro is not competent enough to run our country. And the 2010 elections is in about two years, can't we wait till then before we elect a new president? I'm not pro GMA but I'm also not against her, and being on the fair side, I say NO to ousting GMA.

I also do not agree with the idea of the impeachment. Not only that it is so wrong timing, but it also seems like it's a desperate attempt to popularize one's name in the intent of running for the 2010 elections. I can't help but believe some analysts saying that those politicians who are pushing for the president's impeachment are only trying to use this move as a jumpboard for their political aspirations come 2010.
I just hope they realize that most people are already sick and tired of hearing impeachment trials which are not even sure to work.

It is very hard to impeach someone in position especially in this country. A person in position in this country will hold his or her ground whatever it takes. Up to now, most administration politicians want a charter change. They have been saying that this will make our country better but for me I don't see what better can Cha-Cha do, what they want is the extension of GMA in the position.

In connection, the ouster of the former president pushed through and he got impeached because he left the palace. If he had not left then maybe he finished his term as the leader of this country.

GMA is actually doing good and she is playing her part well. We can see the progress and even if somehow people don't feel it, they would in the long run. Some people don't actually believe it but in my personal opinion GMA is doing quite well but considering what she did in order to win, people won't stop hating her. Protecting your image in the government is hard. You can keep on doing good things and be ignored but when you do something wrong, people would remember you and their impressions can easily change. This make government officials careful on their appearance in terms of media and other publicity. In my opinion, we should disregard the things like that. We should focus on what is best for our country. It may sound cheesy but GMA is better out of any of her competitors right? I know it is impossible to just forget about the controversies and issues she has been through but it is almost done. We should let her finish cause any movements may harm our country.

GMA is a major disaster in the Philippines, true, but i doubt even if GMA be replaced by others, corruption and anomaly will stop. The core problem of our country is not the President but is the whole political system. Problem in the political system is so deeply rooted that no matter how often we change the administration, something dramatic change will happen. This "palakasan" political system should be put into stop.

This is an example of the truth hurts, meaning no matter how much we don't want GMA to be in position because of all the corruptions and cheating she is doing we can't oust her. One reason is that no one is good enough for the position, it is hard to admit but she is the most suitable to being the president of the country as of now. I feel so wrong when I hear people complaining about her wanting her to step down, why? Because they want her to resign but who will be replacing her? No one is good enough for the position so there is no point in letting her resign.

Who do you think will replace if ever she got impeached? Noli de Castro? Oh my, I think we should wait 2 more agonizing years for the '10 presidential elections. And by that time, we should have the mindset to choose wisely a leader that would help rightfully lead us against economic issues.

I think we should wait two more agonizing years for the '10 presidential elections rather than be part of his regime. I'm not hating him, its just that he is not ready yet to take this job.
In the '10 elections we should select wisely the leader who can lead us to the right direction.
