DAVAO CITY — Members of various groups in the region aired their support to Makati City Mayor Jejomar Binay as they urged him to run as president in the 2010 presidential elections.
In a gathering early this week at Barangay Leon Garcia in Agdao district, this city, Binay Na! Movement regional convenor Alexander Balili said that they were able to gather support from various sectors such as the urban poor, youth, labor, non-government organizations, business, transportation, and religious.

"We believe in his exemplary works in public service and his capability towards nation building," Balili said.

He added that there were more than 800 participants who vowed support by drafting a resolution to convince him to run in the 2010 presidential elections.
"The sectoral resolution asked for a change that is pro-people and by an e

xperienced executive leader," he said, adding that they already mailed it to the Makati mayor and are still waiting for his response.

The activity was capped with the graffiti signing of all leaders and members, including a covenant signing of the participating sectors.

I think there's no problem if Binay runs for president. Right now, there are many politicians who wants to run for presidency. The only problem with what they are doing, these senators are having campaigns already through endorsing products. I think, it doesn't matter who wants to run for presidency. What matters is the things that person will and can do for our country. Well, if Binay really is a good politician, it would be nice if he joins the race. After all, he already have many supporters. But the problem that will arise if he runs is that he does not have any praties. The party of Estrada and GMA obviously got some candidates already. They can just pick out from one of their so-called "friends" in the senate or congress.

Well, whatever it it, if Binay runs for president, I just hope that he will do a great job if he wins and he won't be corrupt like the husband of GMA. Moreover, it will be better if he answers the plead and requests of the people already so he can make the necessary preparations regarding his candidacy for president. But as of now, I think it would be better if he make great things happen in his city first before he thinks about whether he wants to be president or not.

I agree; there's nothing wrong if Binay will run for president in 2010. What matters is if he/she has the good qualities and capabilities that can ensure the improvement of the lives of the Filipinos. However, eventhough Binay already went to other provinces or places, he has more suuporters in Makati. In other words, his major voters are from Makati. His opponents are so influential and have done services and projects for the benefit of the country. In my opinion,if we compare the services rendered by the canditates, Binay's opponents have lots of projects and services rendered not only in the Makati area. For me, Binay should first run for Senator to further prove himself.

Binay would make a good president of our country. He has been the mayor of Makati City for over 20 years and he has done a good job. We all know that Makati is one of the best cities in our country and I think that the city's mayor deserves much of the credit. He has been known for being helpful to the masses by giving them health benefits and free movie passes. This is a campaign strategy but it also shows that he provides after service by still being helpful even after he had won the elections.

Binay should not be rash in making a decision in running for president since being a president is not a walk in a park. It’s not enough that the people want him to run. He should also be a public servant and not a politician. And I hope these people who want him to run for president knows what they’re talking about and not an impulsive action to overthrow GMA. I mean Binay would carry the country if ever he runs and wins, if he’s not ready the country will collapse and the Philippines will sink deeper. I really really hope that this people who urges Binay to run know what they are risking and I hope they are not Binay’s relatives/friends since we all know that the opinion of relatives/friends is really subjective.

I think Jejomar Binay should run for president; because I think he has what it takes to be the president of our country. Jejomar Binay has done a lot of things to improve the city of Makati. So far, I think he is one of the best public leaders in our country. Unfortunately, only few public leaders in the Philippines are capable and/or qualified (not corrupt) to become a president of our country. So why not? I would surely vote for him if he would run for president.

In my opinion, Binay should get more experience by running to a senatorial position first before targeting the highest position in the land. Although, I know that he is capable of leading this country it just might be too early for him to run. If indeed he runs for a senatorial position first, this will make him known even up to the provinces. We should understand that popularity really makes a big impact for a candidate to win. I can use for example Senator Jamby Madrigal. When she ran for the first time for a senatorial position she lost big time but the 2nd time around she utilized a popular celebrity to campaign for her. She eventually won and correct me if I am wrong she was in the Top 5 of the winning candidates. Hopefully, Binay wouldn't run just because someone told him to run. It should be his own decision because being the president of this country would mean problems which are almost impossible to solve.

I would really like Binay to be the next president of the country. I've heard that during his birthday 2 weeks ago, he announced that he would be running for the 2010 presidential elections. A lot of changes happened since he was elected mayor of makati. There have been a lot of benefits that he implemented. Like for example the health and education benefits that makati residents receives. That is why a lot of makati residents, including the elite ones really likes how he govern the city. So if ever that he wins the elections, then I believe that he would be a great president, and he would surely change the country to a better society.

We can all see the improvements on Makati City during the past 20 years. I think that Mayor Binay deserves most of the credit. Some people say that Binay is corrupt and he uses the taxes collected from the rich to provide for the poor because he knows that the masses comprises most of the population even in Makati. I think there is nothing wrong with this because he has been helping out the less fortunate by giving the health benefits and even free movie tickets for entertainment. The whole country might be similar to Makati if Binay becomes the next president.
