RP team gets ready for Asian Cyber Games

Source : http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/breakingnews/infotech/view_article.php?article_id=153182

"The contingent from the Philippines for the Asian Championship of the World Cyber Games is continuing their training on their own but promise to play hard in the competitions, according to an executive of the World Cyber Games Philippines organizer eSports."

Team Philippines is leaving today(Thursday) to get ready for the competition, which starts August 8 in Singapore.

The World Cyber Games is like the Olympics of computer games, with participants from over 70 countries. I think this shows that the idea of games as a 'sport' is becoming more popular nowadays. It's unique to our generation and slowly gaining acceptance.

With the WCG starting today I hope that our fellow country men give support to those who will be fighting in WCG because no matter what type of contest it is, it just shows how flexible we Filipinos really are and it would also bring pride to our country cause we are able to compete in a world class battle.

This is fun. Just in case that we don't win a gold medal in the Olympics, at least we have a small chance here. Who knows, if we win a gold here in the cyber games, PGMA would promote gaming in the country? Hahaha.

However, unlike the Beijing Olympics, the World Cyber Games gets little attention from the Filipinos. Fellow citizens usually think negatively about cyber games, since these games cause poor school attention and mediocre grades. Hopefully, the Filipino audience can set aside their opinions and cheer for the RP gamers.
