After four years of consistent record-breaking volumes of foreign visitor arrivals, Tourism Secretary Ace Durano is out to keep the numbers rising by gunning for the world’s big adventure tourism market."Adventure tourism is getting to be a multibillion-dollar global industry accounting for a fifth of the world’s tourism market. Travelers all over the world are searching for more adrenaline-packed activities and excitement, more than the usual scenic packages. And we have what it takes to bring them to the Philippines," Durano said.
It is true that the Adventure tourism is a multibillion-dollar global industry.and It is also true that the country Philippine is earning the dollar through the tourism industry. Just like Thailand, the most part of the country's income is through the tourism. But frankly speaking, comparing to the tourist industry of the thailand, that of the Philippine's is somehow poor. Tourists get inspired by several tourist area in the philippines, but they seem to be hoping for something better.Starting from a simple thing, the government will have to work on it developing the tourist industry. Such as, people at the airport. Many foreigners including me are often disappointed with the way they treat the comers. Philipinos are people with great smile. The smile would look much better than the serious look behind the annoyingness. When developed, It will surely be the country of tourism.

I agree that the Philippines is earning most of it's money from the foreigners and people that come here to visit for tourism. It's the biggest thing we have and it would be better if there was much more places to go and visit. It is true that tourists are treated much differently than everyday filipinos living here, it feels as if we're discriminated as foreigners at times that it's frustrating or annoying. This really needs to be fixed, the culture of this way isn't a good one.
I agree. Since we make a lot of money with the tourism thing here in our country, we should do our best to make the people who visit our country feel at home.
it's good that our tourisim industry is strong, since we do have a lot of tourist spots that we could be proud of. but this might not be long since we ourselves should take care of our country and make it more appealing and less polluted. if the government would uplift our tourism industry, they should also strive to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of our country, especially in our tourist spots such as boracay, chocolate hills, pagsanjan falls, etc. let's not make it like banaue rice terraces, where it was once part of the 7 wonders and not anymore, becuase of the lack of maintenance.
With the tourism section improving, the government needs to find new reasons for tourists to visit the Philippines. And adventure tourism is one of these effective ideas they can create to increase the revenues from the tourism board.
Well, it may take a long time for the government to effectively implement this, but it'll be soon worth it.
Great! More tourists means more job opportunities! I think that our country is great for thrill seekers because our geographical landscape is unique; a lot of mountains, cliffs and the likes. This idea is a two thumbs up. Good.
DOT (Department Of Tourism) is doing a great job in advertising our country. I see more foreigners now than before. It is also because of education.. Education here is way more cheaper than the other country's.
i agree with you that torism brings a lot to one country. Mostly job opputunities for the poor.
i suggest we make the tourism course in lasalle be popular
