Now that the oil price high and all the products are also increasing; but luckily we still have LRT.
MANILA, Philippines – After two misses, the Light Rail Transit Authority is confident the bidding for the P6.3-billion northward extension of LRT-1 will be completed within the month.
Project manager Federico Canar said the financial proposals for Package C, the only remaining component of the project that has yet to be started, had been submitted. It covers electrical substations and systems. He said the LRTA was scheduled to declare a winner and sign a contract for this package on or before Aug. 14.
But in my daily exsperience, of going to school by commuting LRT, its always full of people everyone is pushing arround, it wil end up someone getting hurt. It is not that organize.
There are good news about the LRT, the LRTA have extended the LRT1 so more people will ride LRT than jeeps.
The other one is the extension will connect LRT-1’s Monumento Station to MRT-3’s North Ave. Station through an elevated 5.4-km viaduct.

LRT is a great and effective way to overcome increasing gas prices..and i should know cause i use the LRT1 and LRT2 everyday...the government should really try to improve the LRT and MRT if they truly care and if they really intend to help us..
i seldomly use the LRT but i know this will be of great help to all commuters. we'll save more with this project.
LRT can lessen the traffic in major roads and also bring passengers to their destinations quickly because there is no traffic. another positive thing about lrt is that it costs less than a bus.
I agree with the above posts that the LRT as well as the other rail transit systems we have scattered around Metro Manila is a very efficient alternative to commuting via wheeled vehicles. The big issue is the capacity, usually when you ride the LRT, its literally jam-packed. If this would connect the said stations then more people would be using it so the authorities should also look into increasing passenger capacity. Maybe they can even start connecting all of these and build a few lines in the south and eventually link them all together.
i agree. the LRT line1, as compared to line 2, is soooo used up! they should fix them up. This can have a positive effect to foreigners too. After how many fires the LRT lines have suffered, a little good news about them might help a lot.
its good they are doing something on this, but I just hope it help all the people, because its just always full, and people are always pushing around, especially during rush hours.
yeah, we are really blessed to have the LRT. this can really make people save when commuting. but there are also disadvantages. the LRT cannot accomodate all the commuting people so they tend to pile up in stations and train carts which is a big deal in every day commuting. it is very tiring and hard to commute having to squeeze in a small full train cart just to get home.
It is good that they are doing something to improve the LRT. As we all know, LRT is cheaper and more efficient compared to the other public transportation vehicles. More and more people use the LRT as their means of transportation to save money. :)
palitan na rin sana ung mga lumang tren. ang kikitid kasi nila e. kaya di maiwasan na napupuno kaagad. masakit sa buong katawan pag nakikipagsiksikan tapos marami kang dala...
The LRT as we know is a great means of transportation and now with its expansion we should be able to save more money(cause its cheaper)
This upcoming extension is surely bad new for the jeepney and bus drivers. Why? It's because of this.....
Jeepney and bus drivers depend on their jobs in order for their families to survive. And this extension will only decrease the incomes of these drivers.
No, I don't think this project would be of any good for them.
it's a good news for the commuters, more convenient for them to travel from palce to place, and it saves time, but for the PUVs, it's really a bad news, their competitor is going to become stronger in the near future, they will having a hard to compete with the LRT lines
this extension will bring many benefits to our country. Less cars on teh road and with more people commuting you may assure that it will make money
