Is the philippines poor?

Many people today think that the philippines is poor becasue of many reasons that maybe seen in the philippines today. Like no funds for the diffrent goverment agencies, little improvement on infanstructures etc.

But if people take a closer look the philippines is actually making more money then people think. There are mainly four sectors where in the philippines gets its money. The Export sector, Remittances, taxes and tourism.

Here in the philippines being a tropical country have many exports of fruits such as bannanas, mangoes and coconuts. In fact the countries that have lots of oil such as Iraq have little fruits becasue of there terrain they import lots of fruits. This sector makes a lot of money but it is countered by the many imports that our country needs. Like oil, rice, and such. In other words we are importing more then exporting.

Another sector is the remittances from Oversea Workers. These remittances help a lot becasue every year million of dollars are sent to philippines which increase the dollar supply of the country. WIth an incrase in dollar supply the country may use this dollars to buy products from overseas to develop our country. It is important to have s good supply of dollar because the dollar is like the international currency.

Taxes also is importatn factor. There are so much of people in the philippines that people have been passing birth control bills. So it must mean that there are so much tax payers out there that teh country must have lots of money everytime these people pay there tax.

The last importatn part is teh tourist. The philippines being an archiepelago has so much becaches that it attracts tourist. Like boracay, pueto prinsesa, ilocos and the like. The tourist being from overseaas also bring in money to the country which increase the money supply which makes the peso stronger.

So in reality the philippines amkes money the truth of the fact is that there are a lo of corruption in the country.

I agree the Philippines is not poor. It is only the poor management of governement funds.

The Philippines is not poor. It's just a matter of how people see it. We often compare ourselves with other countries and of course we feel that we are so poor. But if we think of what we have and even though we have these kinds of lifestyles, at least we can say that we are better than other third world countries. The funds are not properly allocated that's why some sectors lack funds. Taxes don't usually go to groups that need it, they go to the hands of those that collect it. It is corruption that makes our country poor. The poor becomes poorer and the rich, richer...

Maybe the Philippines is not poor, its just that the government doesnt know how to make good use of this money. Maybe they are putting the money to a wrong use.

Why cant they just spend the money on the education of every filipino child, or they should invest it in the building of houses for the poor people to avoid the scatter of street people.

the Philippines is not poor, makikita naman natin kung mahirap na yung Pilipinas. Mali lang talaga yung pagpapalakad ng government natin.

In my opinion, Philippines is poor in terms of money. But in terms of natural resources and people we're not. Here in our country, we have a lot of resources that can get money from an a legal and good way. Like our tourist spots and minerals. We just don't have the people who have the guts to do good for the country and not for himself. We Filipinos are talented and smart. We can use it to improve our country but smart people in terms of doing bad such as corruption are first in line. We should realize that our country is lucky but we just don't make it happen for us and use it.

The Philippines is not poor in terms of natural resources. Though economically speaking, it is undeniable that we need so much aid from other countries. A lot of factors cause this like corruption, unemployment and poverty.
