Demand for small cars rises; vehicle sales remain high in RP

SOURCE : http://www.sunstar.com.ph/static/ceb/2008/08/04/bus/demand.for.small.cars.rises.vehicle.sales.remain.high.in.rp.html

Demand for smaller, subcompact cars are in now. They are more fuel-efficient than other regualar sedans. More so on SUZUKI brand cars, with their subcompact vehicles, many benefitson their products. Aside from being fuel efficient, its much easier finding parking space. And prices are much less than that of a sedan.
The SUZUKI ALOT can go as much as 21 to 23 kilometers with one liter of gasoline. The Swift runs 10 to 12 kilometers per literthe other regualar sedans we have nowadays would have a range of 6-12 only. depending on their engine and others. These cars now are much much better and easier on the pocket.

Please do check out the source above, more details on the cars and their prices, and much more

Even in America, demand has shifted to the smaller, cheaper subcompact cars. Our regular cars are pretty much fuel savers already but our roads are always flooded with cars which makes gas consumption so much higher. Its going to be like this since gas is so expensive already, at least oil companies are now rollbacking gas and diesel prices with the decrease in global oil prices.

oil companies, yes i agree they are rolling back the prices of gas and diesel, but you see, it gets actually worse the next couple of days. They would rollback 50centavos, then they would add again 1peso, or 1.50 after a few days. useless.

almost everywhere subcompact cars are in demand for the reasons that higher mileage for each liter of petrol, easier to find parking and more maneuverable.

I heard that small cars are really gas-saving and efficient. That's why recently the coca-cola company of the Philippines bought I think a thousand Chery cars because they are very cheap not only for the selling price but also its maintenance. And this kind of cars are ideal to the residents of the city, because city driving is usally gas-consuming due to traffics and short streets. People nowadays are looking for something efficient and cheap due to the increasing and crippling price of gasoline and oil.

it IS true that smaller cars need less gas. and with gas prices rocketing sky high, who can blame those people who want to buy small cars?

Small is cool! I think using smaller cars nowadays is more practical because of the spiraling oil prices. These subcompact cars consume lesser gasoline compared to bigger vehicles. Another advantage is the finding of parking space. Since it occupies lesser space because of its size, it is easier to find a parking place. :)

This is an interesting trend. It's also very practical. It would be nice if it really caught on.

With the ever increasing gas prices who wouldn't want a more efficient car? This is happening because people want to save money to be able to afford everything they need(which have now become more expensive.

This is good that there are cars in the Philippines that are fuel efficient. I know for a fact that the US has many fuel efficient cars but that's because of the less traffic conditions compared to the hectic roads of Metro Manila, it's a good thing what Suzuki is doing. Props to them.

It's quite ironic that vehicle sales are high in RP. And to think that fuel costs are rising as well, I'm guessing Filipinos don't have much concern about the costs.

And the demand for small cars is high because the people want something practical. They prefer cars that can accommodate them, and at the same time give them the facilities they paid for.

It is no surprise that people would demand for smaller cars these days. This is because of the rapid increases in inflation and oil prices. A smaller car would be more practical since it is more fuel efficient, cheaper, and easier to go through traffic. :)

this is just another reaction of people to the evolving economy. Before people use to buy big SUVs that why chev and Gen motors are big companies but now its toyota and honda

During the time fuel cost is skyrocketing and financial crisis hitting the world. The news that the sales of car has increased is really disturbing. Although demand has shifted to fuel efficient cars, the increase in sales only shows the growing income inequality of the poor and the rich. The poor becomes poorer and the rich becomes richer.

Small cars are really very cheap. But the only fear i have for owning a small car is that it is prone to accidents. Since it is very small, other drivers who have big cars might not be able to see a car 10times smaller than his.

But nevertheless, having small cars are really advantageous most especially for those who want to spend less everyday.
