Soldiers of the Philippines
joining the rotc and meeting the staff in charge who are real soldiers i've thought about their lives. have you? Ever think about the soldiers fighting in for us? what their families are getting out of this? what they are earning? is the risk involved worth it for whatever reason they do this job? the government should value their soldiers more. they should raise their salaries and provide them with better equiptment. I don't think the government cares a least bit about them. they give them guns that most of the time work and bullets that sometimes fire. the gov't can't even provide a clean source of water for them while politicians drink evian bottled water and to think that the soldiers are the ones whose fighting for our freedom or whatever the reason it be. my point is, they should be given more importance and more respect. I don't blame soldiers who commit treason. they have good reasons for doing what they did. consider this, IF we were to run out of soldiers, would the very same people who asked them to go to battle pick up the guns and fight the battle they started? would the politicians and gov't official enlist their sons in the armed forces? isn't that what they should be doing? to serve the republic? what are they doing instead? going to casinos and spending heavily on useless trips abroad, buying expensive things for themselves all at the expense of the poor taxpayer who works 8-8 a day just to feed his family and send their children to school. give the poor soldiers of our republic dignity and respect that they deserve. the average soldier earns less than a public school teacher. the compensation for his death is only 50k. how long will this 50k sustain his family of 4 with the breadwinner inside a box? i hope the government will give this issue some priority amidst the problems the country is facing. after all the soldiers are the one whose doing the dirty job of cleaning the country so that the rich kids can live free, party all night. party? for what reason? release stress? what stress? stress from studies? majority of the masses dont even have access to half of where we study right now, and that's stress? try to put yourselves in the shoes of a Filipino Soldier, don't change your clothes for a week and take a bath for only 15min. a day, drink water that can cause dysentry, sleep on a mat every night, not go home to your family for a year and also put in the uncertainty of you being able to fight again for another day or lie inside a box the next day. did this ever cross your mind?

True, the soldiers of the RP are always being ignored. But who's to blame? They say they fight for us, but they're fighting fellow Filipinos who just want to be independent. Isn't freedom what a Filipino has always been searching for?
Truth be told, I have honor and respect for the soldiers. I just don't give a crap about the person leading them into this nonsense of bloodshed.
