Finally. Our money is put into good use instead of into politicians' pockets.

Schools in Eastern Visayas who have received this financial support will undergo a great makeover that will surely benefit not only the students, but also the faculty and staff of the schools. Even the simple repair of some classrooms such as fixing holes in the ceiling which make the classroom cleaner and a better place will motivate the students to actually attend school.

I mean, who wants to go to school when the ceiling leaks and the walls have paint that can be peeled off?

Overall, this encourages more students to actually attend classes and may even motivate children who aren't studying to enroll and improve their lives. This also encourages the faculty to teach and actually do their jobs instead of pretending to be sick because they feel that they aren't being paid enough for their work.

This is a great change for the Filipino people.

This is really good news, renovation for public classrooms and many more. This will surely give students a better studying environment for students. Classrooms will be more conducive for learning. Students will be more motivated to go to school. And also we could see that the taxes we are paying are not all just going inside the pockets of corrupt officials.

I bet my life that gov't officials had there cut from the 368M. Haha!

It's good to know that the government are finally doing something RIGHT for a change! This project will help the students to be motivated in studying!

@ tobako

Even if the government officials had their share, there should still be enough for proper renovation. But, I agree that they should not have taken a part of that and put it into their bank accounts.

@ everyone else

This is related to Janna's post about the sanitation problem in public schools. You can see where the money is going. It actually has progress.

This means that in such a way our country is improving. Many children will be able to go to school, many dreams will be granted. Like they say "Mga kabataan ang pagasa ng bayan". It means a lot, it will help our country more progressive.

Well, that's good news then. I think children can learn and do better in school with an environment suited for learning. Let's just hope that this project of the government will truly be an efficient and effective one. In time, let's hope that projects similar to this will be applied to most schools in the country to further improve the education here in the Philippines.

This will give an oppurtunity to the children to have fun while studying in a healthy environment.

I hope this progress should be applied not only in Visayas but in the whole country right?

at least the government did something right, they should continue doing this and stop wasting money for their own benefits.

It's about time! In my opinion, this has been the best step taken by the government or it's agencies. The education in the Philippines is getting worse, because the government is doing nothing to solve this long time problem, until now. Students share book and even stay in the school's corridors, because there are no longer vacant classrooms to stay in. This shouldn't happen. How can these people become mature Filipinos when they grow up if what they learn fro childhood isn't enough for them to face the future.

The renovation for public classrooms is long overdue but i'm glad they are fixing this now. Students can have a safe and healthy place to study in. I agree with dontibo though, what about the rest of the classrooms outside visayas?

i don't think all of the 368m is going to 700 classrooms. if this is true, then there will be more than p500,000 for each classroom, wow!that classroom would look like the classrooms in the Br. Andrew building. but does it look like it? without seeing it, i think it still looks like the typical classrooms in the provinces, one with cheap ceiling fans, second hand benches, windows with iron bars, etc. with 500k ,it would at least contain 1 a/c unit, decent chairs, walls, and a decent teacher.

Education should always be the top priority of the government. It's good that Deped did such. A lot of srudents have no choice but stay in the tight classrooms together with a great number of students inside. This is not a good advantage to the students because they won't be able to focus as much. Plus, the students will be monitored more in this way

this can be the start of the future of the country. we really need to help each other in succeeding and realize what will happen in the future since nothing ends here. good for deped.

This is good news. Education will be one of the most important factors in our country's development.

This is good since education is a factor in life. The students will be happier and more active in classroom activities and stuff. Children will learn more since they will have their own books and lesser child-to-teacher ratio. This will give the students better education and better school life.
