Decline in demand of Filipino Domestic Helpers

Source
So i just read an article about the decline of the demand of FDH(Filipino domestic helpers), i feel so sad about it, cause to think these workers need to earn a living, and this is their way of earning it. Working abroad to become Helpers. But i do believe that there is positive side here, cause you see when your're abroad once you say domestic helper you'll almost always get the same answer, from the Philippines yang helper na yan. How sad, that we degrade ourselves. Ang mga Pinoy ay mga matatalino hindi lamang para sa pagiging masipag at masunurin sa amo ang Pinoy diba. Besides because of Filipinos going abroad, Brain drain happens quite a alot.

At times of great crisis, we receive more bad news.

It is indeed sad that the demand for domestic helpers abroad has decreased. How will our people earn money to make a living? Especially now, when the prices of commodities have been rising frequently.

I hope that those affected by this will continue to live a relatively peaceful life. Do not resort to illegal acts. You'll find a way eventually.

There may be two ways to approach the topic. Maybe the drop in domestic helpers abroad means that more and more people are getting employed here in the Philippines. Or probably foreign countries are demanding less of the services our domestic helpers provide. I just hope it is the former. We need workers to work here in the Philippines, but we can never blame others for seeking better opportunities abroad.

The most probable reason why most Filipinos go abroad to be domestic helpers is because they are poor, didn't get good education and have no choice but to work physically hard as maids(something that doesn't require good education). Or else if they have been educated well, they wouldn't be working as domestic helpers and be maltreated by their bosses.

If there is a decline in demand of FDH, then there would be quite a number of bad news to the Philippines:
*There would be less amount of dollars coming in from other countries.
*The peso-dollar exchange would rise again.
*Filipinos would work as maids here in the country and get VERY underpaid.
*The poor won't be able to rise from poverty.
*If there will be no demand for domestic helpers here as well, people will be left jobless because they have no other profession.

In order for the Filipinos not to depend on only being domestic helpers, they should go to school and be educated. But because Filipinos are mostly poor, they can only attend to public schools. So, the government should be maintaining public schools' standards so that people would get good education. This would be a great investment so that in the future, even if there would be totally no demand for domestic helpers, Filipinos would not be affected because they would be too intelligent to go into that field of work.

It is bad news for us that there has been a decline in demand of fil domestic helpers. Our country has a big population, but we have only have few job opportunities. So this means that more and more filipinos will be jobless. Hopefully, in the future fil domestic helpers will be in demand again.

This is good and bad news for me. Good news because our fellow Filipino men won't have to work their asses off taking care of people who aren't even their relatives just for the sake of earning money. Some of them even get killed and beaten up by these foreigners.

But i feel sad because a lot of Filipinos earn by being FDHelpers. Working abroad is their only solution to financial problems here.

Hopefully, the government will do something to help our fellow Filipinos.

It's sad that a lot of Filipinos apply themselves as Domestic Helpers. they are other and better opportunities for them out there. I believe that these are the people that have potential. In some cases, it is just registered to them that this is the only way they could get through things. But it is really not the only way! They should take chances in better opportunities.

i see that because of our situation our country, i am not surprised that many of our compatriots become a domestic helper both here and abroad.i say that govt should do more to help so that there will be less people becoming domestic helpers

We cant blame them though, they're doing what they need to do to earn a living. If anything should be blamed its the economy.
