World leaders vow fast action on crisis

Philippine Daily Inquirer 11/18/2008
Finally world leaders take action after the recent financial crisis struck the global economy. Everything here is picture perfect, all leaders of the G20, countries that lead the developing world, now vow to be vigilant in their handling of the world economy to ensure that the world economy shall never suffer from something like this again. One question though, why are they making the promise to work together now and be vigilant now that the crisis was over? I mean, I am no world leader or economist and I wont pretend to be one, but aren't world leaders supposed to be aware and alert about the world economy to begin with? Make no mistake I do applaud them for making this decision, but if they paid more closer attention to the economy as they promise us now then none of these problems would be here to begin with. The problem started in the United States and they are also the main contributors to this problem. Like my view on global warming I think that the U.S. should take more responsibility in making the world stable all over again. They should not just rely on emergin markets like China or Saudi Arabia, after all its their mess, what with all the short mortgage deals that they have been pulling, they should allocate more of their resources to the problems that they have caused for the entire world instead of Bush just going to some meeting for a photo op.
