Based on the results of a nationwide Social Weather Stations survey, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo still remains highly unpopular among the Filipinos even though we are satisfied with her programs.
According to Danilo Suarez, the one who made the survey, this was because of the media hitting hard on the President. She has been getting bad press and talk shows are always talking about the negative effects of her term.
Personally, I don't think it's just the media. People are now starting to see for themselves the awful effects of the extremely high corruption in her government. What do you think?

Yeah, i think media is a factor of why the president is unpopular.. These writers have their own opinions regarding our president so if they happen to be against her, then of course we have to expect them to write something negative about our president.. But I agree with what you said, that the people is starting to see the corruption that's happening in the government (though i still consider the media as a factor..) Right now, what we can do is to just wait for her to finish her term.. malapit na naman e..
Well the media is a major factor of many things of how people see their opinions in my view. The media can do so much to manipulate people's thoughts and stuff, President Arroyo is unpopular because well yeah people really are seeing the corruption in her government and it's starting to be too much for all of us to take. I just hope that the country and the people will make the right decisions.
All these corruption, scandals, and other shortcomings really show that we have another unreliable President in Philippine history.
From our rank in corruption to the scandals, GMA is really getting negative feedback.
And this also proves that gender doesn't have any relevance with the capabilities of a President. And right now, some fellow women start to think twice about her skills.
the media has a big impact regarding about the image of the government. the media has the choice to only report about the good parts or only the bad parts. but for me i trust the media more rather than the government because the media has evidences on what they report, if not they could be sued
I agree that the media is a big factor why GMA is still unpopular. Because most of the people in the Philippines especially the poor watches local television. The media took advantage of these people by letting them participate game shows and other activities. When the media broadcasts news, especially when its about corruption, people will listen and believe the news that they just heard.
it really doesnt matter what media does..GMA is clearly guilty of things she has done but she's try to cover it up...people are tired of corruption but the only problem is, people are also tired of doing stuff like People Power..
It is understandable that the president is still unpopular mainly because she doesn't give enough programs to help the poor. Second, she is also lying to the people. like the wire tap news, the elections, and many other problems. She also proved to the people that she is guilty in the elections and there could be a apossibility that she didn't win the presidential elections. GMA is a cheater and the only solution for her to become popular again is to step down. Step down is the key. If she really loves the country then she should resign because a lot of people are more worthy to sit in the throne.

i don't think we'd really get used to her totally or if she'd EVER get popular with us. after all, she DID do some things we'd never forget.. right?

easily said, she is not doing a good job. it is just seen that corruption has gone up another level and the poverty just keeps on getting worse and worse. damn, it just seems so wrong that they are unaware or blinded by greed and power. stupid, really stupid and irrational.
With all these scandals and shortcomings all condensed in the news headlines, no wonder the President stil becomes unpopular.
Since the popularity is based on skills and capacities of power of the President, then the unpopular remarks state that the President hasn't been handling the government very effectively.
But in my own opinion, I would have to guess that it is actually the "passiveness" of the people that brings her unpopular. I think she lags down because people don't trust in her to lift the nation from poverty, crime, and such.
