Explosion of PETA Theatre Center

SOURCE.

MANILA, Philippines - A grenade explosion rocked the premises of the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) in Quezon City early Sunday morning, damaging its lobby and parking area.

Radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported that no one was reported injured in the incident, which formed a small crater at the PETA Theater Center's parking lot.

Police are still trying to determine the motive behind the explosion at the PETA theater, along Sunny Side Drive behind the Quezon City Sports Center in Kristong Hari village.

In another report later in the day, Gatus said the Philippine National Police’s bomb squad and authorities from the Quezon City Police Station 11 were looking into all possible angles in the crime.

Gatus cited the squad’s initial findings that an Mk 2 fragmentation grenade was used in the blast.

A man was seen throwing the grenade at the PETA compound, according to DzBB quoting reports from investigators.

DzBB also quoted the PETA management as saying that it did not receive any threat before the incident happened. - GMANews.TV

This is a shocking news because our class just came from PETA a week ago, to watch a play that is under our FILKOMU class. So, whatever the reason is behind this event, I hope that they would know about it soon. It is very fortunate that no one was injured or hurt about this explosion. Luckily, there is not class from DLSU was there when the explosion happened.

A shocking news indeed. And to think we once watched in the PETA theater. Good thing this didn't happen when we were watching at PETA. And also there were no causalities.

It's good thing that there were no casualties. I hope that the PETA plays will not be cancelled oranything like that because the play we saw was very good. More people need to see it.

It's sad to know that the PETA got destroyed of an explosion. I went to PETA twice already. One was Romulus the Great and the second is Noli-El fili. If people think that the El fili was great what more if they saw the Romulus the great. Its full of comedy and we can learn a lot about the culture of Romulus the great because it is an adapatation of the work of Shakespeare. They really got the attention of the audience and they even gave us workshops. They taught us how to dance our foretather's dance. The clapping and how they make the costumes. They also showed to us the catwalk and the equipment used for stage plays. I believe that PETA is a nice place and they could represent the Philippines and compete in those competitions if people come up with one.

Oh my. Yeah, this is a shocking and scary news, thinking that we were there last week to watch a play for filkomu. I really can't believe it. Gosh.

At least nobody was hurt in the incident. And thank God, this happened after our schedule of watching the play. You may think I'm being selfish for saying that but it's true! I don't really want to be there during the explosion. :)

MY my my! Good thing the bombing didn't happen while we were there. Who would bomb a theater? and for what reason? This unknown bomber is mentally retarded. Or maybe he got emotionally attached to a character from the play which resulted to him throwing a bomb?
