The survey, conducted July 1 to 14, 2008, showed De Castro cornering 22 percent of Filipino adults’ support while Estrada has 16 percent.

“Given the survey’s margin of error of ±3 percent, the two are essentially tied for first place,” the survey said.

Closely following on the heels of Estrada are Senators Francis Escudero with 14 percent; Loren Legarda, 14 percent; Manuel “Manny” B. Villar, 12 percent; and Manuel “Mar” Roxas, 8 percent.

Results indicate that De Castro maintains the voter support (21 percent) that he enjoyed in March 2008.

Estrada, on the other hand, seemed to have drawn voter preference away from some candidates identified with the opposition namely Senators Panfilo “Ping Lacson,” who is down by 5 percentage points from 10 percent in March ’08; Legarda, down by 4 percent; and Roxas III, down by 2 percent.

But two possible presidential candidates also identified with the opposition, Senators Francis Escudero and Villar, register marginal increases – 1 percent and 3 percent, respectively – in voter support.

Former Cavite Rep. Gilbert Remulla, spokesman for the Naciolista party, said they expect the survey ratings of Villar to improve further in the next coming surveys.

"The numbers are very encouraging for Villar and the NP considering the Senate President posted the highest gain since the last survey. We expect this trend to continue as we find ourselves closer to 2010," Remulla said.

I think that this survey should make us all think of who among them that the Filipino wants is really worth the vote.

This is what I was thinking about because this survey came out while the Frosh Election was being held.

Why did you vote for that person? Because he/she is your friend? Because he/she is part of your org? Or because you believe in what they can do for you?

So now, let us start asking ourselves, who are we to vote, but most importantly, answer this question...

...WHY?

I don't believe Noli De Castro and the others are bad leaders, but I seriously believe that Estrada shouldn't be included in these surveys. He was already president and he was already impeached. A person with that kind of record should not be allowed to run again.

I do not think that Noli De Castro and Erap will make great leaders of this country.

This survey means nothing for me. Even if you top a survey like this, you could still lose the election. And Erap to run for president, WTF?! The Philippines is gonna go down. Way down.

Mr. Estrada is planning to run again? That isn't new, ever since he was released, he was pushing for candidacy already ignoring the 'agreement' he made not to run again to get his pardon. It's also weird not seeing Bayani Fernando on the survey, I hear rumors that he also plans to run for presidency.

How in the world did those two top the survey? The ones we should be voting are those who know how to think for the people. This is why I really want our president to be some sort of a philosopher, one who wants knowledge and not money.
