This is good news and bad news for all of us. I am happy to hear that ExxonMobil plans to find oil here in the Philippines. This is good for us because it can help lift our economic status and makes our oil prices a bit cheaper than the market price. Every person just needs his/her basic needs in order to live. The prices of our basic needs will go down and more people can afford to buy their needs to have a normal life. But chances are, with the condition of the government of the Philippines right now, politicians are tempted to have a kickback in every project they make. I am afraid that most politicians will like this because this is a big project for them. Bigger projects = bigger kickback for them and they are happy to have these kinds of projects as this is the first "oil project" in the Philippines that is if the project will be successful. But not only that politicians will bug into the project but also some terrorists/kidnappers since this project is very important to our country and very near to the danger zone of the country. The most probable people who will be working there are foreigners because they have the "more knowledge" than the Filipinos or, they could train Filipinos to do the work. If you are a foreigner, you have the higher chance of being kidnapped by the kidnappers because they know that you or your family can pay for the ransom money.
So I say this is good for our economy but bad for both politics and society & culture.

New oil sources is always good news.
Hopefully our government doesn't screw this up as well.
Having our own oil is realy a good news. It will surely agree, that it will lift our economic status. But not on the kidnapping, because people do that because they don't agree with the government, and may be because of corruption. People there are also Filipinos why would they do such things if it will become the advantage to our country. This problem will be solve, with some communication.
If more oil is found, i believe this will greatly help our economy and also relieve our burden in having to import oil from other countries.
This is a good news.
It means that we can have our own oil source and it can also be a job opportunity for our fellowmen. A lot of geologists leave their family so that they can work for oil exporation rigs in other countries. This certainly is a good news but bigger project also means bigger corruption for officials. ExxonMobil's proposed place is also prone to terrorists.
Having our own oil will help, but only for so long.. prices will still rise and we'll need to find other sources of energy.
