The 2010 elections is nearing and possible candidates are endorsing various products on billboards, tv and etc. Some of these product endorsements include laundry detergents, skin care center, bath soap, skin whitener and health supplements. But some use public servics announcements such as calling for the protection of overseas Filipino workers, environment-protection ad and the promotion of the low-cost housing loan program of Pag-ibig.
I am against the idea of possible candidates for the 2010 elections endorsing products and appearing in public service announcements. I agree with Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago when she described these as a form of premature campaigning. And I strongly agree that we should not vote for these politicians.
Commercial endorsements that indirectly promote a politician outside of the election period may not be punishable under election laws but they are certainly unethical.

I agree as well that these early bird politicians who advertise themselves this early should not be voted for in the upcoming election. For all we know, they could be simply trying to gain enough support this early to ensure that they obtain a position in the government.
Why do they want to do that? Because they plan on abusing their position.
Why else would you advertise this early? Do you really want to help our country so bad that you resort to these methods to put your claim on a seat of the government? I don't think so. We're not that gullible, thank you very much.
No matter how much you disguise your efforts under endorsing products or giving public service announcements, it is still premature campaining. It may not be punishable by law right now, but it will leave a negative impact on your overall standing.
those politicians who usually appear on television is simply campaigning. they want to look good to the public. This ads simply makes me think that they are not planning for public service. these politicians makes me think that they would be no good when they win the election
I agree with Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago that some of these politicians are doing premature campaigning that their exploiting these advertisements to make their names stand out though i'm not kinda favor on Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago saying about not voting these politicians for the next elections. For me it is alright to vote them if they really contributed a lot to the public. If they did their jobs effectively and are not corrupt officials then i can say, it is only fair that I or we vote them regardless what they did, that they committed premature campaigning.
Other politicians are already campaigning as early as now even if the elections will be held after a year and a half from now.
The advertisement of Senator Villar is aiming for the OFWs since there are so many Filipinos abroad. He is wrong in doing such advertisement, since he is indirectly saying that the POEA and OWWA (government bodies for OFWs) can not provide for the needs of the Filipinos abroad.
I beg to disagree with you when you said that Vice President Noli de Castro is advertising the Pag-ibig's low cost housing loan since it is a government project, a service for those who can not borrow money from the bank.
For me, we cannot blame some politicians for appearing in such advvertisements. On one side, we say that they are already "indirectly" campaigning for the upcoming elections. On the contrary, we can also say that they would just like to promote the services of the government to the people. Whatever side we choose, we still can't do anything about it since it's their choice, and they have their own reasons for it.
