Filipinos are undeniably talented and smart!
A group of students from the University of the Philippines Diliman has taken the top prize in an Asia-wide video contest, beating groups from Thailand, Indonesia, India and Singapore.
The nine UP fine arts majors won US$5,000 from winning the competition. In an interview, the group's director, Jaime Quiano, said he gathered together nine of his friends and classmates to compete in the local contest in which they had to present a storyboard idea to competition organizer Sony Ericson. These are Clarence Santos, Lilli Beth Gelvezon, Cathlene Samiano, Pocholo De Villa, Marius Talampas, Emmenuel Carandang, Frank Magalona, and Joseph Torrijos.
The competition required participants to create one-minute long videos that poke fun at a fictional beverage called "Shake Pop," which represents the Shake Control feature in Sony Ericsson's latest Walkman mobile phone lineup. The feature lets users skip songs without touching the phone's buttons but by shaking the Walkman phone back and forth.

I saw the video and I'm really impressed on how they were able to deliver to the audiences the message of their advertisement. It's really a simple commercial ad and I think that their simplicity made them win the competition. Indeed another achievement for us Filipinos to be proud of!

Kudos to the Filipino Students who proved once again, the talent and ability of Filipino individuals. Their success is our success too. Let us be proud of them.
If we continue on showing our support to all those with talents like these, then more Filipinos with real skills will be more confident of showing what they really got, not just in our country but in the whole world.
This achievement just proves that Filipinos are really winners. Filipinos have a very wide range of talent. congratulations!!!
the video was good..it's simple yet deliver the message..filipinos are really talented and bright..we're proud of you..
go UP!!
go iskolar ng bayan!!
go Pinoy!!
Now that's what we call Filipino talent. There are people who said that Filipino's only hide their light under a bush well, I for one believe that this is true. If we just persevere and don't give up, then we'll reach our potential. It's good to know that Filipino's know how to make videos and the one what the Lasallian made, the magic wallet and the solar powered car. I am glad that these things happen because more and more people from other countries will know that the Philippines will still rise from the third world country. If Filipinos can make a fully battery operated car then, what will happen to the future? Maybe the Filipinos will also find an alternative for gas. Think about it. :D
